The
Union of Basque Sport Federations is the representative organization
of the collection of sport federations of our country. Its main
goal is to develop Basque sport.
Chapter VI of Title III of Law 14/1998 of sport of the Basque
Country, approved by the Basque Government, provides for the creation,
regulation, and development of the Union of Basque Sport Federations.
The decree that developed and regulated the new organization was
approved by the Government Counsel on December 10th, 2002.
La Unión de Federaciones Deportivas Vascas se configura
como una entidad de base asociativa y con personalidad jurídica,
sin ánimo de lucro y de interés público y
social cuyo objeto es la búsqueda de bases comunes para
la mejora y el desarrollo de las federaciones deportivas vascas,
la defensa y mejor cumplimiento de sus fines deportivos y el establecimiento
de comunes estructuras administrativas o de asistencia técnica.
The Union of Basque Sport Federations is configured as a non-profit
member based organization of legal character and of public and
social benefit, whose objective is to seek common positions for
the improvement and development of the Basque sport federations,
the defense and satisfaction of its sport goals, and the establishment
of common administrative and technical assistance structures.
Likewise, Law 14/98 assigns it a representative function of the
collection of Basque and regional sport federations legally constituted
and enrolled in the Registry of sport organizations of the Basque
Government. Similarly, it is also entrusted with the function
of supporting and protecting the Basque federations, so that they
can promote and advance the participation of their teams in international
competitions.
Within the functions, powers, and goals of the Union are, among
others, to promote, defend, and represent Basque sport in its
entirety; to collaborate with public and private entities for
the development and improvement of sport in the Basque Country;
to propose initiatives and suggestions to improve sport policy
in the Basque Country and promote Basque sport teams; and finally
to provide general services for the Basque sport federations.
The Union of Basque Sport Federations will try at all times to
avoid conflict with any type of power or function intrinsic to
each of the member sport federations, in order to not harm their
interests.
Finally, the Union of Federations is an essential resource and
tool for the development of Basque sport.
